The Wiregrass Transit Authority (WTA) is a trusted non-profit public transportation provider serving the communities of Dothan, Houston County, Dale County, and the City of Enterprise. With a modern fleet of ADA-compliant vehicles and a team of dedicated professionals, we provide accessible, safe, and affordable transit solutions for individuals, families, and organizations across the Wiregrass region.
Our Mission
The mission of Wiregrass Transit Authority is to enhance mobility and improve quality of life by providing essential and inclusive transportation services throughout our service area. We are committed to delivering responsive, customer-focused transit for the general public as well as tailored services for community agencies and individuals with medical or accessibility needs.
Our fleet of over 20 fully ADA-accessible vehicles, equipped with wheelchair lifts and designated stations, ensures that every rider—regardless of ability—can travel with confidence and comfort.
What We Offer
WTA provides flexible transit solutions across Dothan, Houston County, Dale County, and Enterprise. Our most-used service is Dial-a-Ride, a reservation-based system that offers door-to-door transportation for a variety of needs, including errands, medical appointments, work, and recurring care.
Additional services include:
- Contracted transportation for social service agencies Non-emergency medical transportation
- Long-term ride scheduling for dialysis, employment, and other regular appointments
- Transportation vouchers available for purchase and use across all routes
All services are currently available only within the defined service areas. Riders outside these areas must arrange to be picked up and dropped off within service boundaries.
Fares & Rates
Dothan / Houston County
- $3 one-way within the Dothan city limits
- $6 from Webb, Ashford, Rehobeth, Taylor, and Cottonwood
- $10 from Gordon, Pansey, Columbia, Madrid, and Wicksburg
Dale County (Fridays Only)
- $5 one-way for trips within Ozark city limits
- $6 one-way from Pinckard, Midland City, Napier Field, and Grimes to Dothan
- $8 one-way for trips up to 15 miles originating in Dale County
- $8 + $1 per mile over 15 miles for trips from Dale County to Dothan
Enterprise
- $3 one-way within the Enterprise city limits

⏰ Call between 8:00 AM and 2:00 PM, at least one business day to two weeks ahead of time. Earlier reservations improve availability.
Have the following information ready:
- Pickup address
- Desired reservation date
- Destination address
- Arrival time
- Return trip time (if needed)
Please do not leave reservation requests on voicemail. They will not be honored.
Passengers are requested and expected to have the correct change and to pay the driver upon boarding the bus.
Any trip that is cancelled less than one hour from the scheduled pickup time will be considered a “no show”. See “no show” policy below. For passengers with standing appointments, if they cancel 2 days in a row (without a valid reason) their future rides will be cancelled, and they will have to schedule on a day-to-day basis.
- Any passenger that has three no shows within a 3-month period will not be scheduled to ride for a period of 10 days. If a passenger receives more than one suspension within a year, the second suspension will be thirty (30) days or longer.
- Subscription (regular) passengers that have a no show on two consecutive days will be removed from the schedule until they call dispatch and confirm their schedule.
- Any passenger that is a “no show” will have any additional trips for that day cancelled.
- Any passenger affected by this “no show” policy may appeal the decision against them to the Director, Wiregrass Transit Authority
The use of any and all tobacco products on any Wiregrass Transit Authority vehicle is not allowed.
You are welcome to take carry-on packages, but are limited to two packages per rider. Packages may not be stowed in aisles, in front of bus near driver, in unoccupied wheelchair stations, or in unoccupied seats. Vehicles are not equipped for storage. Passengers are responsible for getting packages to and from and on and off the vehicle. The driver cannot leave the bus to assist passengers with packages. Certain Items Cannot Be Carried on Public Transit Buses: Pets or animals (except service animals) are not allowed on the vehicle. Other items not allowed on the bus: open containers of food or drink, containers of gasoline, kerosene, vehicle batteries, and other hazardous materials. Portable containers of oxygen, for medical reasons, are allowed. The wheelchair lift may not be used to load packages or bulky items.
